Leo Carrillo State Beach
This beach is just south of the Ventura County Line. It has good facilities and easy access to the ocean. Parking varies with the season and has gone up. Plan on bringing $15 for parking. You can also get an Annual Pass to the state parks online or at the parking booth. My last annual pass was $125 but it may have gone up. There is also camping facilities which usually require a reservation. Sometimes it is wiser to meet outside the park and survey the site before paying for parking incase the conditions are not favorable. This site is not terribly deep but usually has quite a bit of kelp and rock reef structures. Visability can be iffy or awesome, depends on the day. Surf can be chalenging at times at this beach and occassionally has some current. In season the lifeguard stations are manned regularly otherwise the beach is patrolled by a mobile lifeguard.
